Across the UK, tree planting and habitat creation are critical for supporting pollinators, combating biodiversity loss, and improving resilience to climate change. By involving local communities and youth groups, this project also provides educational opportunities, raising awareness of nature conservation and encouraging long-term stewardship of Bristol’s green spaces.

At this site, we are planting a diverse mix of tree species to benefit pollinators, birds, and small mammals. Planting is supported by volunteers and scout groups to foster local engagement and learning. Using cell-grown trees helps to improve survival in the heavy clay soils, which are prone to winter waterlogging.

Bristol and the surrounding Avon region contain a mix of urban and peri-urban habitats, including parks, river corridors, and fragmented woodlands. By establishing new woodland and hedgerows, this project improves habitat connectivity, creates food and shelter for wildlife, and contributes to the ecological network across the city.
